Also timed to tie in with the grand finale of the Tour de France, the second of our intrepid friends took to the saddle to ride with a team of riders from the UK to the finish line on the Champs-Élysées in Paris last weekend!

Our good friend Meleni Aldridge (pictured far right in the above image), of ANH Consultancy (The Alliance for Natural Health), and Managing Director of the life-changing community organisation Bite the Sun decided to take on a similar challenge to her colleague, Rob Verkerk, and make it to Paris under her own steam. Although not in the same time frame, Rob took the challenge of a 24 hour time limit for his ride (read his story here), Mel’s was no less of an accomplishment undertaking the trip, starting from Oxshott in Surrey, in 3 gruelling legs over 3 days (it’s over 60 miles longer than Robs trip too but then he’s a light-weight!).

To aid stamina and recovery along the way Mel naturally dosed up with nnnSPORT® X-Cell as well as some other supplements from the folks at NuZest: CLP (CleanLeanProtein) & GGS (GoodGreenStuff) – see full info and links below.

Over the 3 days (including a 93 mile last leg with a punishing ascent into Paris) she manage to clock up some very impressive figures:

  • 250 miles (400 km) cycled
  • Average speed of 13 mph (21 kph)
  • 18.5 hours cycling time
  • 7000 calories burned
  • Metabolic activity at an average of 75% of max HR
  • 8000 feet (2500 m) of climbs

From Mel’s on-line diary blog

“250 miles; steady average of 13 mph; a total of 18.73 hours cycling time; nearly 7000 calories burned additional to metabolic activity at an average of 75% of my max HR (which was my target for long endurance) and around 8000 feet of climbing over the three days! “

“Seriously grateful for NuZest.uk CLP & GGS, nnnSPORT® X-Cell nucleotides and around 1800 mg of turmeric (700 mg curcumin) every night. I also added additional BCAAs and L-Glutamine to my recovery shake. It was a winning combo as I really did wake up with my muscles in good shape every day. “

Despite my knee issues, I stayed off any Ibuprofen and managed all inflammation naturally with the support of the strapping.”
